The Blessings of the South African Security Forces When I went to the first Inkhata Indaba, Mangosutho Buthulezi woke me up! When an African man says ‘FW De Klerk is our president', there must be something mentally wrong with him. How can he be his president? This made me very suspicious. I had met Rowley Arenstein in Pretoria Central Prison in 1959. He was a Leninist who believed in a Federal system for South Africa that would also accommodate the Zulus. Rowley's wife Jackie deserves high honours, as the South African security forces harassed her. She was neat and meticulous and stood by Rowley through thick and thin. Rowley arrived at my home and asked me to help him get to Ulundi before all hell broke loose in the media. I did not know what was really going on but did as he wished. We went to the legislative assembly in Ulundi. Everyone who attended this meeting was surprised to see me there as they were discussing the repercussions of money received from the S.A. Security Forces. I learnt much at this meeting and just how underhanded people of power can become. America was supplying Savimbi with weapons. They put a stop to it when the Cubans pulled out of Angola. There was an agreement for a ceasefire. These weapons were intercepted by Military Intelligence and arrived in Durban. Military intelligence handed these weapons over to the South African Security Forces. This could not have been done without the instructions of Magnus Malan. There must have been fifteen to sixteen containers full of modern weapons. South African Security Forces gave a lot of these weapons to A.W.B. and Inkhata members and a lot to underground agents who were fighting the A.N.C. There were a couple of million Rands paid by the Nationalist government to ferry all Inkhata members to Johannesburg to the Shellhouse march to sort out the A.N.C. members As you go into Umlazi, one side of the station, from Joosups Hardware store, is Inkhata supporters. The other side of the road, is A.N.C! As you enter Umlazi, the hostel on the right housed Inkhata members and on the left mostly A.N.C. There were different areas in Umlazi that were strong holds of Inkhata and strong holds of A.N.C. A.N.C. and Inkhata were at war.
Powell was an I.F.P. member. The South African Security Forces trained him. He was a senator after the elections. Because of all the controversy surrounding him with the arms, he had to point out his hideaway for weapons. He exposed three containers of weapons in 1995. Those weapons were for Inkhata. Powell emigrated to Australia. Vele Shange took me to see Prince Madlala at his home in Ulundi. There were three weapons against the wall in his lounge: two AK47's and a weapon from Czechoslovakia. Madlala said, “All the royal family around Buthulezi were supplied with weapons.” Thomas Shabalala was a warlord! When he came to visit Shange he had thirty or fourty AK47's in the back of his car, covered in cowhide. The very forces Shange and A.B. Ngobo were working with, assisted the ‘hostel dwellers association'. I lent them my car on their request, believing they were going to attend a P.A.C. meeting in Johannesburg. Next thing, they phone me from Mooi River telling me my car had broken down. The car was at the garage by the Tollgate. I went there. When I asked one of the workers what had happened to the Africans that were driving this car, he said that they had been flown out by military helicopter. It had landed outside, near the garage. They must have had a meeting with the South African Security Forces. When they came back I told them I had to pay two thousand five hundred Rand to fix my car. And AB Ngobo said he would donate five hundred Rand. I said, “That's a cheek. Who is going to pay the other money?” Professor Bolofo explained to me that Shange had been expelled from the P.A.C. Shange was an informer. He was very well trained. He was trained with Khumalo. When Shange told me that Colonel Meiring had informed him: “never to discuss anything with Strydom,” I finally realized this man was an informer. This was a slip of the tongue that caused me to get rid of him. They were at my house. I chased them like dogs and made it clear I wanted nothing to do with informers, traitors or politics. When President Kennedy was invited to visit South Africa (the rainbow nation), he came with the intentions of going to Soweto. Ted Kennedy was refused entry to Soweto because the Azania people threatened to kill him in that area. Zambia freedom radio came over the air to say that the third force was to be eliminated. This is where the A.N.C youth and the U.D.F. youth joined forces to eliminate the third force. They tried to wipe out Azania, the P.A.C. and the Black Consciousness movement. These youths fled from the townships. Their houses were burned. They were stabbed. A.N.C. was declared a terrorist organization. U.D.F was from the mainstream churches. They were part of the A.N.C. wing in South Africa under the leadership of Tutu and Allan Boesak. They were getting a lot of money from the Scandinavian countries, which Allan Boesak took advantage of. |
